Oil Pulling!! The Craziest Thing You Can Do For Your Health

Oil Pulling? Your first initial thought is probably what the heck is that? It’s the first thing I thought when I first heard about it. Oil pulling is an old Ayurveda process; a Hindu system of traditional medicine native to India.  Oil pulling “works on the ROOT cause and it helps the body in the healing process.”

All the benefits: The list of benefits is endless. Of course it detoxifies the body and cleans and whitens teeth. But the process is known to improve allergies, colds, headaches, and all sorts of respiratory problems. Cavities, tooth pain, gum diseases and mouth infections, skin disorders, acne, eczema, rashes and scars just to name a few. And oil pulling may have the potential to help heart disease, blood pressure, Diabetes, Arthritis and joint pain, digestive disorders, and constipation, and so many more chronic illnesses.

How to do Oil Pulling:  You want to do it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

  • Pour 1 tablespoon of cold-pressed sesame or sunflower oil into your mouth. You
    can even do coconut oil if you like the taste better. It’s better to be Organic but it doesn’t necessarily have to be.
  • Just like mouthwash, you are going to swish, suck, and pull the oil through your teeth for 20 minutes.
  • Try not to swallow. If the urge to swallow becomes unbearable just spit out the oil and start again.
  • After 20 minutes, spit the oil into the sink and then rinse with warm salt water. (This step is not necessary, it just helps to remove any toxins left in the mouth.)

As the oil mixes with saliva the oil will start to change as it’s saturates with toxins. After oil pulling for 20 minutes the oil should become white and thinner, almost a “milky” consistency. Oil pulling can be done a couple of times a week, it is a healing process over time so be sure not to expect a quick fix. Pretty interesting huh? Ready to go try it?
